Common problems we treat…

  • Heel Pain (Plantar Fasciitis) – A dull or sharp pain in the heel and medial arch area usually severe in the morning when getting out of bed or after long periods of sitting.
  • Ball of Foot Pain (Metatarsalgia) – Usually causes a burning sensation in the forefoot sometimes may feel like a lump underneath the ball of the foot associated with Morton’s Neuroma, a neuralgia affecting the web spaces of the toes and impingement of the intermetatarsal nerves leading to fibrosis, common with athletes.
  • Bunion (Hallux Abductor Valgus) – The big toe deviates towards the second toe and the 1st Metatarsal bone protrudes from the side of the foot, associated with flat feet.
  • Knee Pain (Patella-Femoral Syndrome) – A dull nagging pain in and around the side of the knee cap, usually worse after walking up stairs or active sports.
  • Shin Pain (Shin Splints, Tibial Stress Syndrome) – Pain in the shin area, is common with distance runners and walkers.
  • Achilles Pain (Achilles Tendonitis) – Inflammation of the Achilles tendon above the heel and ankle area.
  • Hamstring Injury (Intense pain in the back of the thigh) – Tendons that attach large muscles at the back of the thigh bone become strained, pulled or torn common in many sports such as running, football etc. Hamstring weakness can also be responsible for a pelvic anterior tilt and lower back pain.
  • Back Pain (Lumbar-Sacral Pain) – Nagging dull pain in the lower back, exacerbated by occupations, which require long periods of standing in one spot.
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis – Often leads to chronically painful feet, lumps and nodules can form on the bottom of the feet and may progress to ulceration; orthotics can reduce the pain and discomfort.
  • Diabetes – Nerve problems of the feet often occur in diabetics, this is known as peripheral neuropathy and results in numbness and loss of protective sensation of the feet. The inability to feel pain which although is unpleasant is, of course, necessary to prevent damage. This loss of protective sensation may lead to injury and could progress to develop ulcerations on the feet. With our  2D pressure scanner, we are able to identify potentially vulnerable areas of the feet, with a prescription orthotic we can address and accommodate the potential hot spots, therefore, reducing the risk or prevent the development of foot ulcerations.
  • Osteoarthritis – Degenerative joint disease and the most common form of arthritis to affect the feet. The joints become stiff, painful and enlarged, their range of motion will be reduced and jamming of the joints may occur particularly in the 1st metatarsophalangeal joint.

About our 3D printed Orthotics:

Gaitworx is proud to offer advanced 3D printed orthoses utilising cutting-edge technology. Our 3D printing capabilities enable us to create personalised custom foot orthoses with unparalleled precision and design flexibility. By harnessing additive manufacturing, we can achieve orthotic designs that surpass the limitations of conventional manufacturing methods.

The benefits of 3D printing in orthotic production are substantial. This manufacturing approach allows us to adjust design parameters according to the specific requirements of clinicians and patients, resulting in highly tailored orthoses. The level of accuracy achieved through 3D printing is exceptional, ensuring consistent replication with minimal variation.

Moreover, our use of 3D printing significantly reduces material waste compared to traditional direct milling techniques. We are able to achieve up to 90% less waste, contributing to a more sustainable manufacturing process.
